Clammy banned me from her IG 3 years for being a terf and has me blocked in advance from her Substack in case I have a moment of insanity and want to give her money to hear her despicable drivel. Fascinating to get his update about her ongoing decline into nutjobbery. Another terminal victim of woke mind virus, imploding into a puddle of vomit before our very eyes. Yuck.
I found Ford’s first and second books unreadable. Unfortunately, I’d already bought them. Put in bin. Once she put on stripper pasties and started pandering to ogling men, it was no surprise to see her slagging off women who care about women and girls’ safety. Complete sell out.
The Australian is doing what the media should do in publishing this powerful and viscerally disturbing piece by Julie, and its features last week on Michelle Telfer and the RCH, and, the week before that, on Moira Deeming's ongoing fight against the Vic Libs still trying to walk away from the consequences of calling her a Nazi. Finally, some media is platforming public interest truth and exposing DEI endorsed ideological pathologies for the lies and vitriolic inhumanity that they really are. It is strangely interesting how third wave feminism is at the heart of the rainbow washing both anti-female and anti-Semitic bile. But thank God for Julie and the Aus.
Thanks Julie. Personally, I think modern feminism died on 7 October 2023 and while I would have once described myself as one, now the word has been tainted thanks to Clementine, Grace etc. By the way the description 'my snarling Clementine' is perfect! If these women were true feminists they would have a natural bias towards Israel but their feminism is as phoney as their 'anti-racism'.
Like so many of the identitarean-intersectionalist woke, with their roots in post modernism and its ugly child queer theory, Ford has descended into irrational ideological writing. And the more irrational she becomes the more frenzied. Supporting terrorists, championing a culture that oppresses women in the most extreme ways, participating in the trans belief system that calls to burn women, championing men who violate lesbian culture. The list of the indefensible goes on. And the frenzied finger pointing and yelling increases. Once a writer becomes so inarticulate that all she can do is repeat "f*ck" this and "f*ck" that, it is clear her ability to defend their position is beyond her. Ford has fully committed to various interconnected and profoundly irrational ideologies, and I sense there is a fundamentalist gleam in her eyes that is really rather dangerous. Her blatantly anti semitic stance is indicative of just how emboldened and utterly unreasonable the woke have become.
I posted a comment on her Facebook page explaining exactly why supporting the reality denying, science denying notion men can turn into women, and hence into lesbians, was distilled homophobia. She did, of course, block me. But I knew she would because her flurry of furious words about lesbians and other women who don't prostrate themselves in front of the laws of trans ended with "f*ck terfs". It seems that is all she has to say these days.
I particularly liked Julie's approach in this piece, simply identifying Ford's conduct and leaving it hanging without much in the way of comment because Ford damns herself by her own actions. That said, I wonder if it is wise to feed any oxygen into the demented echo chamber she apparently thrives in. Although I agree she once had some useful things to say about a range of feminist issues, it seemed to me that she long ago ran out of rational arguments and has had to resort to increasingly deranged commentary in an effort to stay relevant. I'm sure her acolytes still cheer her every brainfart, but I dismissed her as a lunatic a while back and decided she is best ignored. I can understand why Julie felt she could no longer do so but in the same way Ford would never platform a "Zio", I doubt there is much to be gained by platforming old Clammycakes, even if only to identify her insanity and vile antisemitism. Best left stewing in her own putrid juices.
For what it's worth the piece was commissioned, in other words it wasn't my idea to write about her. Then when I sat down to write I realised I had a bit to say. I agree with you that she shouldn't be written about as a general profile, but when anti-Semitism is the angle I think there's a higher purpose to the piece. Because it's not just about her, it's about a whole movement degenerating.
As someone who doesn't get to pick and choose which battles to fight in my game, I completely understand. I also tend to agree that antisemitism should be called out wherever it is found and the weird shift of so-called progressives to support a profoundly conservative and often fascist Islamic movement is also worth examining. Perhaps I just detest her simplistic, and plain wrong, views so much that I wish her away from the public glare.
I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way that Intersectional feminists are vile, racist, genocide loving, antisemitic sociopaths. Anyone claiming 'feminism' these days is someone whose narcissism and malice cannot be separated - truly toxic human beings that rave at a level that suggests involuntary commitment would be helpful to society at large, and them in particular. It's an ideology that make young women mentally ill, miserable and loathsome. Nothing anyone should want to promote.
While I wouldn't go as far as your labels I think there is validity invoking narcissism (and maybe nearby cluster conditions). If you look at any modern movement they are largely led by people with such tendencies. Such movements offer convenient "splitting" between good/evil and victim/perpetrator and easy moral clarity to point one's indignation at.
What is really telling is their shiftable focus - CF went from feminism to anti-zionism, there is a whole repertoire of causes for such people to jump across to - look at Greta Thunberg's trapeze flip from environment to A-Z. IE adopting a "stage persona" when the old one is getting stale.
Reading these responses I have to interject, Clem is not a feminist. It is not feminists losing the plot as feminism remains what it has always been, the fight to lift the boot of patriarchy off of our necks. Far from being up to that fight, she has bought the boots and takes glee in joining the neck squashing. Feminists are still here, though the media ignores us for all they are worth. What passes for feminism in most media now is a pink washed wholly owned product of the corporate men's rights movement. Doesn't mean there are not women out here beyond the echo shouting our lungs out to the wind.
Sorry, bit late to the comments party. Been distracted by world events...
cf JB and her head covering - re-reading that column is an interesting trip down memory lane. It's a wonderful reminder of what's at stake for Iranian citizens right now, but also JB's comment that she is not a "feminist" is perplexing.
(Nevertheless, a Liberal Party led by Julie Bishop could have been a very interesting sliding door moment for Australia.)
There is no way that Clem Ford is - or ever has been - a serious feminist. That is, someone who believes that women should have access to all the opportunities (and dignities) that men are afforded by default.
It always puzzles me when women in powerful positions - like Julie Bishop - deny being "feminists" when their status is a direct result of the hard work of the feminist (aka suffrage) movement. Of generations of women clamouring for more.
This is very clearly evident in Iran - there were at least two generations of highly educated women and then the theocracy was implemented and the next two generations of women had all of their access to opportunities and dignity eroded.
I suspect that Clem Ford has ignored the plight of women in Iran? Despite her so-called Feminism?
And that she is in the streets waving an Iranian flag? And abusing Israel for doing the world's dirty work and ensuring that a homicidal regime does not have access to the ultimate homicidal tool?
The real problem with CF and her ilk is that they are so good at shouting. And the current social media age rewards the loudest voices. Which means the average Joe thinks that such views are the norm... Which means that such views spread - not because of any animosity but because of simple exposure. (Parnell McGuiness made reference to this in her column about Q&A over the weekend.)
I don't remember that Q and A. But yes, you can see the photos from that time. She went to visit Tehran as Foreign Minister and wore a bloody black veil! Even though Iranian women's rights campaigners were begging her not to -- they were desperate for some moral support. But hey, she's not the only one who betrayed the brave dissidents in the Islamic republic: Obama famously deserted the student protestors.

An intellectual amoeba.

Accidentally sent my comment too soon. Like you Julie I always enjoyed reading them.
