Julie l have no connections to the Jewish community, but l do understand history and the incredible complexity of the situation in Israel. I am shattered how people are buying into this. If the placards were asking for the release of the hostages, a stop to the constant rockets into Israel as well as expressing sympathy for the Palestinian people l would understand. The ability to overlook the atrocities of October 7th is stunning. I don't know if our state government is wilfully ignorant or captured by the far left. Victoria isn't the state l thought it was.

It is appalling that a government run institution such as the public school system is countenancing a strike in order to support only one side of this horrific conflict. One can almost understand a strike on humanitarian grounds to call for an end to the violence, a return of hostages and a resumption of diplomatic solutions to the dispute. However, no institution run by the government should in any way pick sides, thereby invalidating and putting under threat a section of the community. This really amounts to endorsing the recent actions of Hamas, which is a little odd given leftist governments usually don't have much truck with fascists. This is weak leadership by Allan and she deserves to be condemned for it.

What the hell is wrong with our schools and our governments! A strike for peace and a peace march I can understand, but this is so scary and wrong. And yet again they are using the children. Unforgivable.

Julie, I think the way the Premier has behaved is deeply disturbing. You have absolutely nailed why this is so. I think there is no way Daniel Andrews- and I accept that he had his issues- would have behaved this way. Just terrific work Julie.

That poster you referred to equating Jews to rubbish was so abhorrent, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. This rise in antisemitism globally has stunned me.

Julie, once again your writing is brilliant. The wilful blindness by Labour and the silent majority to rampant antisemitism that is erupting on our streets and destroying civic society is devastating.

Australians of all faiths should be able to live in peace without "imported enmities".

I was going to write a passionate plea to you calm down but that wouldn't help given that I'm not Jewish and how would an old Melbournian understand what you and your people are going through, my thoughts went back to a visit I made seventeen years ago to Vienna for my sixtieth birthday, on a cold snowy day, by mistake I visited the Jewish museum and I remember the seeing the model of the ghetto before the destruction in 1441, I care, it has to stop!
