A great interview Julie. JA is an extrodinary man. I have to say I never liked John Howard, though I did sort of feel sorry for him. JH had to go even further neoliberal than Hawke and Keating, and re-purpose the ANZAC legend and the flag to define the Coalition as distinct from the (by traditional stadards, Far Right) Labor Party. But John Anderson has always struck me as very special, and very broad in his ability to work accross the Coalition and the Isle. And he did a pearl of an interview with Louise Perry recently, which I'd really recommend for people interested in gender politics.

There are many politicians whose depth only appears visible once they leave politics, much like Malcolm Fraser.
